All Charges were Withdrawn on April 19th after a waste of 4 years and over $310,000 of Township money. Mr. French lost the election by 82 votes because of this injustice hanging over his head and creating some doubt with some of the electorate.
The Justice for Bill French Committee has been set up to help defray future and past legal costs in Mr. French’s fight to defend himself against an unreasonable prosecution under the Municipal Elections Act. Now that the Prosecutor has withdrawn all Charges on April 17, 2019, we want to help Bill recover some of the costs that he incurred to stand up to this unwarranted and unprecedented prosecution.
The account is overseen by a finance committee whose members are Bernard Pope, Oro-Medonte, and David Strachan, Springwater.
Mr. French has already incurred about $70,000 in legal costs defending himself. To date we have raised over $10,000 and we would like to see us raise at least $50,000 to offset some of Mr. French’s costs to defend himself from such an egregious misuse of the Municipal Elections Act.
